Attorney Joel Katz joins Barnes & Thornburg as senior counsel more than three months after his resignation from Greenberg Traurig. Katz, a former founding chairman at Greenberg Traurig, will act as senior counsel for Barnes & Thornburg’s entertainment, media and sports practice, Billboard reports. Throughout his career, Katz has represented many prominent artists, including Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Kenny Chesney. He also helped with the sale of Big Machine Label Group to Ithaca Holdings and The Carlyle Group in 2019. He will continue to be based in Atlanta.
“Mr. Katz has a distinguished 50-year legal career representing numerous well-known artists, producers, record labels, prominent organizations in the music industry, and Fortune 500 companies," a Barnes & Thornburg representative said in a statement. "He also has been deeply involved in countless community and philanthropic organizations in Atlanta and around the country."
