Quartz Hill Records will sponsor Tyler Reddick’s No. 8 Chevy at this Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway in SC. The car’s hood will feature the cover art for Joe Nichols’ “Home Run” single. It’s pink and yellow paint scheme nods to country singer and NASCAR driver Marty Robbins’ 1972/1973 racecar. The event will be broadcast live (3:30pm ET, FOX, Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90).
Quartz Hill previously sponsored Reddick’s car for his Feb. 13 and March 7 races.
Nichols’ “Home Run” goes for adds on Monday. The song, written by Ashley Gorley, Dallas Davidson and Ross Copperman, is Nichols’ debut single on Quartz Hill. The singer first heard “Home Run” in 2018. A nostalgic tune that has Nichols singing of life through baseball metaphors, “Home Run” takes on deeper meaning during COVID-19.
“It's a songwriter’s dream if you can make the same words speak for two things,” Nichols tells Country Insider. “I would have loved to put it out in 2019, but the way everything worked, the timing of everything, to have that song come out as the world is opening its eyes a little bit again, I think it's timing that I would have never gotten right.”
