The Patrick “Pat Garrett” Sickafus-owned classic country WWSM-AM Harrisburg, PA (1510) has ceased broadcasting and will continue as an online-only station. The station’s transmitter was damaged by a lightning strike in July. Unable to justify the cost of repairing the transmitter, Garrett, and Station Manager Gary Gruver decided to discontinue a traditional broadcast model and let the station license lapse. “The world has become our audience,” Gruver told Lebtown. “I think this is going to work and it’s going to work really well.” The property where the transmitter was located has been put up for sale for a $195,000 asking price.
